[tweetmeme]More than 28 years after being banned from “Saturday Night Live” — reportedly over a drunken and profane performance — The Replacements will return to NBC’s famed 30 Rockefeller Center next week to perform as musical guests on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
The reunited band teased the appearance tonight with a 30-second YouTube video (see below) that includes footage of that infamous Jan. 18, 1986, performance on “SNL” and ends with the date Sept. 9 shown over Fallon’s set and voiceover. The “Tonight Show” website doesn’t yet list the ‘Mats, but among Tuesday night’s guests is none other than Keith Richards. Perhaps he’ll sit in?
