[tweetmeme]A 1988 live set by The Dream Syndicate could make its first appearance on vinyl in unedited form if enough fans vote for its release through new imprint Run Out Groove, which pits three titles against each other every month and lets fans decide which will be produced and put up for sale.
One of this month’s voting options is The Complete Live at Raji’s, a 15-track live set recorded in 1988 that was released in Europe on vinyl in an 11-track version the following year. The full concert also was released as a 2CD set in the U.S. and U.K. in 2004.
The Run Out Groove release — should it beat out reissues of the first Golden Smog album, 1995’s Down By the Old Mainstream, and soul singer Howard Tate’s 1972 self-titled album — would be the first U.S. release of the full concert on vinyl. The release would be a 2LP set, individually numbered, on multi-color 180-gram vinyl, with new artwork, never-before-seen photos and liner notes.
Run Out Groove users previously have voted to release a 1985 live set by Echo & The Bunnymen on vinyl.
The reunited Dream Syndicate, meanwhile, has a new studio album coming out later this year, and is playing some shows in the U.S. and Norway in May and June.
