Echo & The Bunnymen reschedule U.K. tour over Ian McCulloch’s throat infection

[tweetmeme]Echo & The Bunnymen today rescheduled most of the remainder of the band’s U.K. tour as frontman Ian McCulloch recovers from a throat infection, announcing several makeup dates in June and early July following the release of the band’s new album Meteorites.

The band had played a pair of U.K. dates and concerts in France, Belgium and the Netherlands before McCulloch fell ill, but this week was forced to postpone the rest of the tour after McCulloch’s voice failed to improve, telling fans on Facebook, “believe us when we say we’re utterly heartbroken and hope you understand decisions like this are not made lightly at all.”

Today, the band announced rescheduled dates in Manchester, London, Bristol, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton. No mention was made of a new Newcastle date, while the Liverpool show is officially canceled — but the Bunnymen expect to book a new concert in their hometown.

Tickets for the rescheduled shows remain valid, or refunds can be obtained.

The Bunnymen will release Meteorites on  May 26 in the U.K. and June 3 in the U.S., and will follow up the rescheduled U.K. dates with a U.S. tour in August.
