[tweetmeme]Johnny Marr this week made it official, formally announcing his long-discussed plans to pen a memoir, saying the book will be published in fall 2016 — three years after bandmate Morrissey’s much-buzzed “Autobiography.” No title has been announced for Marr’s book, but it will be published by Century.
On his website, the former Smiths guitarist says: “For the past few years as I’ve been out on tour promoting my solo work fans and journalists have been asking me when I’ll write my book. I’m very happy to say that the time has come to tell my story.”
Ben Dunn, Century’s publishing director, adds: “It’s the book Smiths fans have been waiting their whole lives and the early material that Johnny has written is utterly breathtaking. I’m delighted that Johnny has chosen Century to be his publisher.”
A paperback edition will follow in 2017.
Marr’s announcement comes just a day after news surfaced of Elvis Costello’s planned memoir.
