[tweetmeme]Third time’s not a charm: Morrissey canceled his third concert in San Antonio, Texas, in just six months, citing “health concerns stemming from (the singer’s) appearance in Tucson” earlier this week in scrubbing tonight’s planned performance at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
Morrissey left the stage in Tucson on Monday night after just six songs, walking off during “Everday is Like Sunday.” Bandmate Gustavo Manzur told the crowd, “His voice is shot. You heard it, you heard it. He’s been trying, trying really hard. He came out, he tried. His voice is really shot. We’re sorry. He’s sorry.”
A statement posted by the San Antonio venue reads:
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
FOLLOWING HEALTH CONCERNS STEMMING FROM MORRISSEY’S APPEARANCE IN TUCSON, IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT TONIGHT’S SOLD OUT ENGAGEMENT IN SAN ANTONIO AT THE TOBIN CENTER IS CANCELLED TO ALLOW HIM TO FULLY RECUPERATE. YOUR PURCHASE WILL BE REFUNDED TO THE ORIGINAL TRANSACTION CREDIT CARD, OR IF PURCHASED BY CASH OR CHECK A CHECK WILL BE MAILED TO THE NAME AND ADDRESS ON THE ORIGINAL TRANSACTION.
According to the KENS 5 TV station, this marks Moz’s third cancellation since last fall. The singer’s Nov. 16 show at the Tobin was called off after Manzur fell ill before a show in Boulder, Colo., and that concert’s make-up date, on Dec. 17 at the Majestic Theatre, also was canceled.
Tickets are still being sold for the final two concerts on Morrissey’s current U.S. tour: Friday at the White Oak Music Hall in Houston and Saturday at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas.
