[tweetmeme]David J, the former bassist of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, this week released the first single off his upcoming Kickstarter-funded solo album, a gentle, acoustic number called “You Suit a Rainy Day” that precedes next month’s arrival of An Eclipse of Ships, an album he’s described as “a journal of the heart and a paean to Woman as muse.”
Below, you can stream the song via video clip, or buy the track for $1 over at Bandcamp.
The new album will be David J’s ninth solo effort, following up 2011′s Not Long For this World. His solo debut, Etiquette of Violence, was just reissued in an expanded 2CD set. He also released a re-recorded version of Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” this past Halloween.
More recently, he joined the band Stellarum, which has released a cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” and is working on a full album of original material that’s expected out later this year.
