[tweetmeme]For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we turn to the very short-lived late-night talk show “Thicke of the Night,” hosted by the late Alan Thicke (future star of “Growing Pains”), and this 1984 visit by Aussie rock powerhouse Midnight Oil.
Amazingly, the band — not exactly a well-known act in America at the time — was allowed to perform three songs. As you can see below, they play three of the highlights off 1982’s 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 album: “Read About It,” “Short Memory” and “Power and the Passion.”
There’s a lot of newspaper strewn about, and Peter Garrett’s wearing some kind of weird jumpsuit.
