[tweetmeme]Mike Peters, frontman for The Alarm, and his battle with cancer are the subject of a new documentary titled “Man in the Camo Jacket,” which premieres at U.S. film festivals this week and will be shown later this month at a pair of bi-coastal gatherings for fans of the band.
The documentary, directed by Russ Kendall, features appearances by The Beat’s Dave Wakeling, Billy Bragg, Glenn Tilbrook, Cy Curnin of The Fixx, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Richard Blade, Martha Quinn, Billy Duffy of The Cult, members of The Alarm and, of course, Peters himself.
“Man in the Camo Jacket” premieres tonight at the Dallas International Film Festival and will screen again Tuesday at the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, Calif. Peters will attend both screenings, and perform acoustic sets and do audience Q&As at each.
The film also will show at the Newport Beach (Calif.) Film Festival later this month, and at The Alarm’s USA Gathering events in Los Angeles on April 22 and New York City on April 29.
After that, the documentary — subtitled “A Story of Love, Hope and Strength” — is expected to tour around the U.S., with an accompanying bone barrow drive at each screening.
